Thanksgiving is always a very trying time for those of us in the fitness industry. It is never a good thing to tell people that you can enjoy your holiday, but do so in moderation! How the hell are you supposed to enjoy turkey and potatoes, green bean casserole, squash, stuff and PIE in moderation!!! You can’t! It is impossible. All we can hope for is that no one overdoses and can come out of the holiday weekend relatively unscathed. But now that we are past the Thanksgiving holiday it is time to give our bodies and our minds a little tune-up. Time to get off the tryptophan band wagon and lace up those running shoes or walking shoes and get your body moving again. It is hard…we don’t want the weekend to be over mentally but damn, how much more leftovers can we really eat.
One of the things that I really like to do after a big holiday is go on a “crash” nutritional binge! Overloaded with fruits and veggies. Good solid proteins and really try to avoid as many bad fats and bad carbs as possible. A cleanse of sorts.
We have a good solid month before the big eating is going to start all over again…let’s take this month that we have and really do some good for our bodies before it all starts over again.
Push it hard everyone! Don’t quit! Don’t step on the scale expecting great things to happen! The only thing we can all do right now is change the mindset and go forward. Oh…and if you have any of that great blueberry pie leftover…get rid of it and go out and get some fresh blueberries instead. You will feel a whole lot better for it.
