Pensacola Beach Gulf Coast Half Marathon – April 2010

I can sum up this race with one word.  HOT!  Starting temperatures were in the low 60’s and it got no cooler from there.  This was an out and back course starting at Casino Beach in Pensacola Beach Florida.  We ran up the gulf highway all along the water, which was great when it came to scenery, however, there was absolutely no protection from the sun just beating down on all of us.  Thankfully they had extra water out there and all the volunteers were super fantastic in ensuring we were all taken care of.  In the great Pensacola running tradition, of course there was free beer at the end 🙂  Temperature hit 72 degrees by the time I had cross the finish line and was more than likely then and still is today one of the hottest races I have ever run in.

Finish time:  1:40:27
